My name is Linda Bessellieu. I am a self-published Indie author. Tawana Bessellieu and Jaliyah Bessellieu-Webb, Tawana's daughter, are co-authors. We are the writers of the fiction and nonfiction children's picture book stand-alone series My Protest.
We write fiction and nonfiction children's picture books that explore critical world issues from a child's point of view. We aim to inspire young readers to learn about the world, empathize with others, and take action for positive change. We know that stories have the power to educate, entertain, and empower children of all ages and backgrounds.
We author my granddaughter's stories. The first book is titled "My Protest." It was written when she was four. She attended a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest. It is based on the real-life story of a four-year-old child's experience at the Black Lives Matter protest during the height of the pandemic.
Our second book, My Protest: Please Don't Erase Our History!, is about learning the truth about black history from an African-American child's point of view. The book also includes activities of influential figures, activists, and even excerpts from historical texts.
We are pleased to announce the release of our third book, "My Protest." If I Could Peek Into Heaven To See What My Daddy Is Doing, is a poetic and colorful children's picture book that paints a lovely image of where someone goes and what they do. A little girl whose father has died imagines herself peeking into heaven. My Protest: If I Could Peek Into Heaven To See What My Daddy Is Doing is a perfect book for any little one who has experienced the loss of a parent or loved one to find comfort.
